Tulsi, or holy basil, is a highly aromatic, tender perennial often grown as an annual in cooler climates. Revered in many cultures, it produces attractive purple or white flower spikes and fragrant foliage which is fabulous used as a tea. For best results grow in a polytunnel or greenhouse.

Exposure: Prefers sheltered, warm positions and is only moderately tolerant of wind. It is not considered coastal tolerant, as strong, salt-laden winds can damage its foliage.

Sun: Full sun, though light afternoon shade is beneficial in very hot climates.
