Galium oderatum - Sweet Woodruff

A low-growing, creeping perennial with glossy green leaves and delicate white star-shaped flowers. Often used as a groundcover in shaded gardens, woodland areas, and herbaceous borders, it is valued for its sweet scent, especially when dried.

• Exposure: Moderately wind-tolerant; not strongly coastal-tolerant, prefers sheltered, woodland-type sites.
• Size: 10–30 cm tall; spreads 30–60 cm.
• Soil: Moist, well-drained, humus-rich soils; prefers slightly acidic to neutral conditions.
• Sun: Partial shade to full shade; tolerates dappled sunlight.
• Flowering Time: Late spring to early summer (typically May–June).
