Echium vulgare - Echium 'Blue Bedder'

Echium ‘Blue Bedder’ is a compact, fast-growing annual bugloss that produces masses of vivid gentian-blue flowers over a long season. Its neat, bushy habit and intense flower colour make it an excellent choice for bedding displays, borders, containers, and pollinator-friendly gardens.

  • Exposure: Prefers open, sunny positions and has good tolerance of wind. Suitable for many coastal gardens, coping well with maritime conditions provided drainage is good.
  • Size: Approximately 30–45 cm high × 25–40 cm spread.
  • Soil: Well-drained soil; adaptable to sandy, chalky, and loamy soils. Performs best in moderately fertile conditions.
  • Sun: Full sun.
  • Flowering Time: June to October.
  • Wildlife Benefits: Highly attractive to bees, bumblebees, hoverflies, and other pollinating insects, providing a valuable nectar source throughout the flowering season.
