Ocimum basilicum - Basil 'Beaujolais'

Basil ‘Beaujolais’ is a striking ornamental and culinary basil grown for its deep purple stems, reddish-purple flower bracts, and aromatic foliage. It combines attractive garden colour with the classic fragrance and flavour associated with basil, making it well suited to borders, containers, and herb gardens.

  • Exposure: Sheltered position protected from strong winds. Not coastal tolerant; exposure to salt-laden winds can damage growth.
  • Size: 45–60cm high × 30–45cm wide.
  • Soil: Fertile, moist but well-drained soil rich in organic matter.

  • Flowering Time: July–September.
  • Uses: Culinary; ornamental.
